6 Table Decorating Tips For Spring & Easter

6 Spring Easter Table Decorating Tips

I love Spring and Easter. Because you can use the same decorations into the summer without changing the entire table. Just simply tweak it with different napkins, chargers, or other table accessories if you choose. Let’s look at 6 basic Spring and Easter table decorating tips that can be used at your dining room or kitchen table for everyday decor and hosting.

Use vibrant, pastels or soft neutral colors

We often say, choose no more than two or three colors for your decor. But for Spring, you can use multiple colors in the same family. Soft pastels, neutral and vibrant colors bring a cheerful vibe to your room. Choose an item for inspiration, and pull your colors from there. My floral napkins were my inspiration. And you see those colors throughout my table. Don’t be afraid to play around with color in your tablecloth, table runner, plates, napkins, and centerpiece. Just try and break it up with some solids and patterns.

Mix and match tableware and flatware

My Spring table is a mix of casual and fine china. A round placemat and wicker woven charger is a great contrast. On top of that, I added a solid mustard color dinner plate. Instead of putting a smaller plate to support my trifle glasses, I mixed it up and used a porcelain saucer. These trifle glasses can be used for fruit, dessert, candle holder, small flowers, or, a as finger bowl used for washing before dinner.

I finished the table with gold-trimmed flatware and green acrylic goblets. Two sets of napkins are displayed here. One solid and one floral.

Accentuate with layers, textures, and patterns

Layering gives your table a 3D effect and makes certain items pop. You can achieve that for example with a placemat, charger, and plates. Texture draws the eye to each piece and displays your hosting talents. On this table, I used linen, burlap, and a polyester blend with my napkins, table runner, and round placemat. And, I rarely use one pattern. There’s pattern in my charger, napkins, and white porcelain saucers. If you stick with the same colors, you can play around with stripes, florals, themed prints, and more. Be sure to have less than 5 types of items on your table runner to not overcrowd it.

Add greenery and flowers

I didn’t use many flowers or greenery here. I used my year around white floral centerpiece that never fails me! A wide scalloped vase that can accommodate fresh or faux flowers and can be changed seasonally to fit your theme. I simply added two dark green topiaries for a dramatic look. You can also compliment floral decor by implementing them in your, plates, tablecloths, or napkins.

Accessorize with Spring and Easter figurines

What do you want your table to say? Wooden plaques that say Spring is here, He is risen, and Happy Easter are a few ideas if you want words to complement your look. What are some of the creatures of this season? Birds, bunnies, and butterflies represent this time of year. These items would go on your table runner. You can find table accessories like these at your local craft store. Or, make them yourself if you are talented in crafting.

Add a unique variety of candles and candle holders

Candles and candle holders not only create an ambiance. But, can add a really fun element to your table and be fillers in empty spaces on your runner. Here, I used silver, crystal, porcelain, and ceramic. They don’t all have to match.

Did you know candle holders can be used for more than just candles? My silver candle holders are the main candle holders that complement my centerpiece. I found this fun ceramic pedestaled candle holder with a butterfly on the end. I put a bird figurine on top of it. My mustard porcelain candle holders have scented candles in them and can be used for other tablescapes. Last, I turned a set of crystal candle holders upside down and placed topiary balls on top of them.

Hostess Challenge: It’s important to have a centerpiece that does not block the view of your guests for conversation. Or, if you have a large centerpiece, move it right before you sit down to eat.
